The asper were only recently introduced
into American herpetoculture and are relatively rare. The asper
are very similar to the centralian rough knobtails, Nephrurus amyae,
but are smaller and generally are dark or greyish in color. They are
indigenous to northern Australia, ranging north into the Cape York
peninsula. They are generally dark charcoal grey to black, but
may also be creamy white and grey. Some populations in FNQ have
purple bands. These geckos are very popular and are a great
addition to our collection.
