Spotted Pythons or Blonde Macs (Antaresia maculosa)
Cape York spotted pythons, or
blonde macs, as they are also called, are closely related to childrens
pythons. They are hard to find in the U.S. and most spotteds
advertized as Cape Yorks are mislabled. Our stock are direct
descendants of the Barker (VPI) line of Cape Yorks, and will not be
crossed with other spotted python blood. There are only a
handfull of breeders that I am aware of that have true Cape
Yorks. Always ask to see pictures of the breeders before
purchasing "Cape York" spotteds, because the differences are
obvious. Below are pictures of our Cape York pair, and you can
see the large blotched pattern on a lighter yellowish background.
Their care is very similar to Childrens pythons, but they eat a bit
larger meals. Our adults eat small to medium rats. Look for
offspring soon!
