With a crazy busy
pinstripe pattern
and nice jungle carpet python yellow and black bold contrast, the Zebra
is a eye-popping pattern morph of the jungle carpet python. The
zebra mutation is passed on in
a "co-dominant" manner, so breeding a
zebra to a normal jungle
results in approximately half zebra
jungle
carpets and half normal jungle carpet pythons. Breeding two zebra
jungle carpets together results in some of the offspring that are
patternless supers. We
aquired one of the first zebras,
which was
imported into the United States in 2008. We have named our zebra
Grevy (as suggested by our friend Jeremy), after a type of zebra
(the equine kind). An '07 female zebra
was aquired in early 2009, and named her Doli, after the zebra (equine kind
again) subgenus, Dolichohippus, keeping with the theme of naming
Grevy. The two zebras will be
paired in 2009-2010 season to hopefully produce a super zebra or
two in 2010! We produced a nice clutch of zebra jungles by
breeding Grevy to our Python Pete female Lilly in 2009, which resulted
in some
amazing zebra jungle carpet pythons! We held back a male and
several female zebras to improve color and to produce a bunch of super
zebras in a few years. This should be a great
project! GET ADDICTED!
